Video for inspiration

This a primary example of what we are looking to achieve when animating because it follows the same concept of death. I picked this story mainly because it tells the story of the death of a relative to the character that is telling the story which is very similar to James's idea of telling the story of his fathers tragic death.

I think this would be useful because it uses the same subject to tell a story about a tragic death but subtlety with out mentioning the word death but uses the images to convey the feeling through motion and colour. This is similar to the idea my team has with telling our story, we want our animated documentary to feature both light and dark colours to show the change in mood in relation to what James's will be talking about whether it is both a sad or happy situation.

We haven't thought out completely how we are going to execute this idea because we are still debating to do it both live action and 2D or just 2D using a white board.

I like this video because if fits with my groups concept of family deaths and works using the same style of animating we plan to use for our project. By flashing from one image to the other it almost places the events to do with the grandfather into a compilation of small animated scenes that work with the voicers explanation, telling the story both subtly along with animations to give you scene of feeling.
