I have taken part in the International reggae poster competition designing a reggae poster historical to the event. The posters could be anything, as long as they represented reggae culture, music and the artists of the reggae generation.
I have gone about creating a poster for a reggae competition using the Jamaican colours and a image of a rasta-man banging the drums, reason being because I wanted the poster to be symbolic to the history of reggae but also link it to its roots stemming from Jamaica. I have also make some historical links to old reggae artist just to mark the history of reggae music and to give it a stronger link to both Jamaica and reggae.
My idea was a poster called Reggae Eruption, for this I worked along side a family member with a border knowledge both old and new. This competition was chosen because I felt it is closer to my roots back in Jamaica and I felt it would be a really good to take part and get input from someone with more knowledge than me.
If I am to do another poster for a competition in the future I think it would be of the same standard as the one I have now. The only difference, I would make sure some of the areas on my illustration work is tidier in areas because I can see small unfilled gaps sections that could have been rectified with more attention to detail, this is something I can consider in the future.
