Both my self and Molly have been working on there character designs for the dad animations. I have been developing characters for the orangutang, whilst Molly worked on designing the cat character. I developed few characters that were hand draw or photoshopped but they were regarded as either child like and soft or too detailed by my group members so James decided to let Molly designed and she started to churn out some really good design on her part where as I struggled to meet James's expected character design because my style of drawing the characters was not what he was looking for.
We met up together because we felt the design work was not working well and it was taking longer than expect and there was no progress. Molly designed a set of characters along said me and her characters we considered to be best suited for the animation. So I have decided to let her focus on the character design and I work on the landscape, background and storyboarding because I have realised me doing all the design work is greedy and that I am not able to do everything by my self as I have realised that doing a lot for the creative work leaves Molly with out work for the animation and also piles on stress for me as I also have other briefs to work on all at the same time so I need to reduce the work load by sharing the creative process with my team members. This is why I have given Molly the role of character designing and I am now focusing on background work.
I really like Molly's design work it suits the theme well, it is soft on the eye but not too soft and the shapes are nicely formed and simple for animation, it is not child like and weak. My style on the other hand was too strong for this theme, so I feel this was my reason for struggling to design something that was soft and reasonable for both James and Molly as my team mates.
We are making our characters simple to animate so that we do not have to spend a long time animating each frame.
