20 second animation scene
Current developed scene for my 20 second animation. This scenery alone was done using Auto CAD and photoshop, I will place my character in this scene to make it look like he is living with in this actual space and have him walking up and down the scene to make it look like a real life situation.
I chose to design my scene black and white like this because I feel it would be simple way of developing a scene easier to animate along with my main character because it means every frame will not have to be coloured when being developed. Colouring every frame will be time consuming so thats why I have just decided to keep the scenery black and white just the same as the original Walt Disney cartoons.
I feel two colours allow you to work faster because it does not involve me having to select a colour for each area differently which would take time and consideration because it involves making shore that my character look clear, bright and appealing to a target audience so I would need to be neat and considered. I feel colouring it black and white makes it easier because it only consists of two colours and I do not nee to concentrate on colour for each frames because its all about my characters formed figures which shows the detail through liner work and uses the paper as the form of white for the body of the character and background as expressed in my scene and mickey mouse below.
Using two colours or rather on colour would make it easier to move from one frame to another quickly because there is not involvement in taking time to switch colours inbetween drawing the frames this way, that is why I preferred to do this project with only two colours because it makes my work of producing 240 frames a lot easier.

Feedback 1
What is stated on feedback sheet :
Issues discussed at the tutorial :
- Make sure the character looks angry/agitated whilst the wind blows.
- If he is watching TV put noise in the background so that, the situation is convincing.
Student action :
- I will focus on making my character very emotional in movement and appearance, make sure Tv noise is added to background is used as I feel it will add a sense of liveliness to the scenery and something we can all relate to.
I have chosen to take the on the feedback given and will add the features previously stated because I feel it will enhance the image of my background scenery, it will give my work life and meaning because there is more scenery involved.
The main thing I think I need to concentrate on from the feedback would be second motion movement in the background I have now decided that I want no other objects to move in the background a part from the character, this is because I would like to exaggerate the lightness of the character to make him look like he is the only moveable object in the scene, almost like a feather, this is another way of entertaining my target audience.

Selected 8, images and narrative
This is a developed storyboard on the 32 and chosen 8 images based on a female character who is on a mission to get to her futuristic part time work place after finding out she is late a second time, she rushes from her home through the galaxy just to get to her work but but accidentally falls of her board in mid air and crashes through the window and lands flat on her face.

20 sec Animation Storyboard

My current 20 second animation focused on the element of wind, the animation tells a story about a man who is hit by a draft of wind whilst reading a book, quietly and peacefully in his living room when he is hit by a big draft of wind that is evidently strong. He tries to keep the window shut but the wind keeps blowing it back so his solution in the end is to hold the wind using body weight, near the end the wind nearly budges open but the character manages to keep it shut then sighs with relief.
I will execute this animation using the traditional handing animation and then I will ink over using fine liners and then it will be cleaned in Illustrator and transferred to photoshop for each frame but I will need to do this in a systematical process, draw, ink and colour each frame after they have been drawn each day to save me having to colour and ink them after I have done all 240 frames because that will be really time consuming and it will take a lot of time from my hands, I think it would take up most of my time due to the effort and concentration that will have to go into to ensure it looks clean and presentable for my target audience.

Development
This is my character and scenery development for my 20 second animation, I first started to struggle on finding an idea for my character, my initial idea was to have him in a coat some trousers and shoes. I later was given feedback and told that drawing the character would be too detailed and time consuming when coming to do the actual animation, so I decided to tone him down and add less features and not colour. I took a look and Mickey mouse and drew some inspiration from the character, I think walt disney drew mickey mouse all one colour because it would be a lot easier to animate especially when drawing the frames because there would have been less detail to add in each scene and on the character when moving.
I started my idea generation through a mind map and came to the idea of using fire as my element at first this lead to ideas such as ; a phoenix emerging from a match, a hand creating a flame using a match and a bird flying past all the different elements. These ideas were seen as complicated and not thought through properly, I bounced my ideas of someone and came to the conclusion of making my animation about the element wind because the previous ideas did not present any of the 12 principles and would not turn out to be a very good as animation because there would not be very much movement and uninteresting as an animation because they lack skill involved in the making of the animation.

pose to pose and flip books Animations
Talks through the basic principles of animating in stages and uses an example of a basic characterised walk and demonstrates the in between phases of manipulating the movement. Talks about the incorrect ways of making the character move, keep drawing one after the other so that it develops in to a long line of continuous images that follow through, filling in the in between stages.
An flip book animation on Goku's fight against Omega shenron that, it is a really big dragonball Z fight feature a lot of movement and in between movement frames and will have taken stages and a lot of main frames to animate it.
Frame by frame research
This video talks about the basic fundamentals of frame by frame animation mainly with walking, gives you clear strategic steps on how to make your movements clear and free flowing. Talk on how move your character with additional notes.

5 second animation research
I found this Tom and Jerry episode on youtube rather interesting and could relate to my actual 5 second animation, The fighting scenes in this animation are very hysterical, I would like to apply the some funny scenes to my final animation so that it expresses the meaning of fear whilst being funny at the same time.

Evaluation
Over all the work has help me develop various
skills, I have started off with being taught the basic 12 basic principles of animation, which has then been applied throughout this
module and reflected on so that when I produce any animation they feature the
12 main factors of making an animation. The main principles focused on throughout
this module was "Squashing and stretching" and mainly
"timing" so when I first hand drawn and developed an animation it
gave me an idea to how it must run through, if any fames were missing it would
show by skipping/leaping frames flicking from one to another in a flash. I have
a lot more about flip book
animation after doing more research about it and learning to do it properly in
seconds, my idea of a flip book was to develop a an ordinary image in the
middle of a page that just moved across from one side to the other.
The flip books were mainly develop as part of the Squashing and stretching method, the main focus was to time it and make sure the squashing effect was applied. After doing the flip books I realise that the method of squashing and stretching applies to everything animators do and is mandatory factor of making any form of cartoon or animated TV show, film, flipbook etc.
my storyboarding and idea generation has improved since doing storyboarding on this course I have learnt what animation requires and what the animator needs to see when given a storyboard so that they can understand what needs to be seen when animated e.g. zooming in and out. Storyboarding requires a lot of work and processing so that it is clear and understandable to others as I have experience after undergoing an exercise of showing everyone with in my animation group one each other’s storyboards for opinions and ideas, this broadened my understanding and gave a few factors of animation to consider when going back to do storyboarding.
Pendulum is an easier way of understanding how to create a bigger version of a flip book for animators, this is a technique all animators use to measure their movements for characters. I think the pendulum really works and has helped me develop smooth and clean animations especially on my 5 second animation.
Pixilation is all about taking pictures in stop motion forms and transforming them into animations through image sequences, my very own predator and prey pixilation was a complete disaster, I thought it would be alright with the 300 fames I had but I failed to make a free flowing pixilation animation due to missing frames, which later resulting to continuous skipping really fast pace movement.
The whole module is enjoyable everything I have learnt has come in very useful and I am applying all the 12 principles, and factors of animation to everything I do to make sure the animations, I produce in the future are done professionally but run perfectly with no problems or faults in running or skipping scenes.

(Apply) Poses to pose 5 second animation, Karate Kid
I really like the concept I have come up with for a basic animation, the only problem is that I would have liked to get the rotation of the characters kick flowing continuously, The characters expressions and his is hysterical. This was designed to be an animation based on hate as one of the themes for apply. How does this link to hate ?, Its basically a guy with a phobia for insects, he hates and detests creepy crawleys so he uses combat as a calm way of removing the pests from his sight. Over all this animation could be a lot cleaner but in the future, I will remember to include a lot more frames and pay attention to detail.

pose to pose and 5 second animation notes and sketches
Basic jotting down of animation and movement rules for pendulum animation and pose to pose.
Notes for my second pose to pose animation, list of ideas.
second pose to pose 5 sect animation notes on first idea of orange like characters with a hate for flies, hate was the first theme I went with which was later on changed because I no longer preferred this idea.
More ideas and drafts of characters for second pose to pose 5 sec animation.
Another following draft of character design for second pose to pose 5 sec animation.
Being of storyboarding for 5 sec pose to pose animation, theme is fear, the character has a fear of insects so he uses karate to knock them back from himself. The character was later on changed to a Karate kid to suite the theme.
