Photographed poses

These are my following photos for the strike a pose study task, I chose tiredness, surprise, confusion, fear and shame because I felt that they were the easiest and most expressive feelings to communicate in maya. I have had fun posing and expressing different emotions and getting used to acting out different types of characters, it has put me out of my comfort zone and has allowed me to explore ideas for what type of character I would like to create for the Telling tales brief. looking back at these pictures shows the impact emotion and body language has  and how it helps to convey emotion through the communication of imagery.

Maya Poses

This is my regged character posing, I have thoroughly enjoyed this short brief and am getting used to the basics of operating the the movements of a fully regged. The following feelings, I feel are  the most dramatic and easy to communicate in terms of appearance, emotion and expression, there are not many features on the character that help to express the feelings, working with this character has made me understand more about body language and how it can also be used to express emotion, learning how to move a regged character has taught me to learn to improvise with a plain character.

Confusion

Fear

Surprised

Tiredness

Character rig (Practice)

To day I have had a lesson on maya and learning how to move and create a character using 3D software. After not using Maya for a long period of time I have been re-introduced to the software mainly for the requirements of the Telling tales, because I am required to use Maya as an animating tool knowing that 3D work is my weakness and I do not yet fully understand the basics of using this package. The basics of this package will need to understood if I am able to animate in 3D, personally I feel that the functions of a character are easy to control but making the character move clear and continuously will prove to be a challenge due to not having much experience with the package.

I have managed to develop a set of character poses easy using maya and have noted the shortcut keys to enable the characters joints to move, this task has helped me to slow grasp the basic and I feel that I am still learning more as I study maya.

Telling Tales (planning)

I have started planning my idea for my given brief Telling tales by spider diagramming relative links to my chosen theme rival.

My first objective has been to find out what rival stands for and to understand the true meaning of the word:

"Rival- a person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity." (Google definition)

The main reason for researching the meaning of the word rival was to help me understand the concept of rivalry and how it filters into everyday situations. I have listed many different subjects that rivalry features into and noted politics as my chosen idea. Politics is known global and features in everybody's lives as an issue, it features rivalry between parties, voters, leaders and countries.

I feel this idea will be a very interesting subject to communicate, but I think it will take a lot of work to animate rivalry as a clear message to a viewer.

An area of politics has yet to be decided and I am still to work up a story that links both politics and rivalry together.
